Sweet Dreams for First Nation Children

For the second year, Speroway has received 15 bunk beds for First Nation children from the students at West Credit Secondary School in Mississauga, ON. The students built the beds under the carpentry instruction of their teacher, John Dametto and he says, “Making these bunk beds for First Nation children is a great way for my students to learn carpentry and to also make a difference in the lives of kids who don’t even had a bed of their own. I am honored and my students are thrilled to be able to help in this way and we thank Speroway for delivering the beds and for giving our students the opportunity to make something useful that will really improve the quality of a child’s life.”

Speroway is delivering the new bunk beds to First Nation reserves in Northern Ontario. For several years, Speroway has worked in First Nations communities where many children live in desperate conditions. We know that positive changes in sleeping habits will improve learning, memory and attention. As one Chief related to us, these beds will change the social dynamics of the community because everyone will get to sleep at night!

We send a huge thank you to the students of West Credit Secondary School for putting their carpentry skills to such good use – giving First Nation children a warm place to lay their heads at night!
