Food Box Distribution Follow-up

Cliff Cline, Speroway VP-COO had a chance to speak to two other front-line providers in Moncton, NB that benefitted from the food drop on April 15, 2011.

Jim White, Operations Manger at the Ray of Hope Kitchen told Cliff that he saw 8 single moms the week of April 4th, all with children in tow.  He also pointed out that rising fuel and food costs are really having an impact on Moncton families and creating a new group of working poor.

Speaking to Patricia Sirois, President, Vestiaire St. Joseph, home to a food bank and clothing depot, we discovered they had served 470 families last month.  Seniors on fixed incomes, working poor, seasonal workers and single parents come through the door and over 37% have children to care for.

While news surfaces from around the globe about rising food prices we are, unfortunately reminded, that closer to home there is still a struggle with poverty.
