Food Drops

In Canada, Speroway is addressing the reality of domestic poverty through its work with First Nations communities, Family Food Box Program and ongoing distribution of food and other commodities. Speroway has distributed food and supplies, valued in excess of 8 million dollars, from coast to coast to over 110 distribution partners.

FEATURED FOOD DROP

HAMILTON, ONTARIO, CANADA

  • On Thanksgiving weekend in 2010, Speroway and Marwan Hage of the Hamilton Tiger Cats delivered food to 1000 needy families in the City of Hamilton, ON
  • Other partners supporting the event included the Hamilton Tiger Cats and Caravan Logistics (30+ volunteers)
  • Working with social service agencies in Hamilton, Speroway was able to identify 1000 families who were in need of a food; which we provided in the form of a Family Food Box
  • The food box contained 4 days of food, approximately 30+lbs. Fresh bread was also provided by Oakrun Bakery
  • The Compass Group and the TiCats were on hand to provide BBQ hotdogs
  • This Thanksgiving we return to “Steel Town” with the goal of feeding 1,000 families. Through the strong partnership with agencies working on the front lines we can identify those most in need of food.
  • According to the “Hamilton Roundtable for Poverty Reduction” close to 20% of the city’s families live below the poverty line. With your help, we made Thanksgiving 2008, 2009 and 2010 a little better and a little brighter for a lot of children.
  • This year 1000 families will receive a Family Food Box. The boxes are made possible by the generous donation of individuals, organizations, churches and companies in and around Hamilton.
  • This is not the first time or the last that we will come to the assistance of families in Hamilton. We have developed partnerships with numerous distribution and procurement partners in the City of Hamilton.
