Based in rural NW Kenya, we provide a safe and loving home for children who have no parents or family to care for them. Our primary goal is to empower them to achieve their dreams through education.
a grassroots project
Nyota was established in early 2009, working with Speroway and our local partner in Keyna, Mission in Action. Children are brought to us by the Kenya Children’s Department. These children are most at risk in an already impoverished country. They have lost their parents through AIDS or other tragedy and are sometimes rescued from juvenile prisons; some are abandoned in the city street of nearby Nakuru.
When they come to us they are often sick, malnourished or abused. At the Nyota home we provide a healthy environment, nourishment and love. Here, children go to school, play games, help with chores and lead a happy life.
They all have dreams and we seek to empower them through the safety of the home and through education.
Nyota is 100% dependant on the financial support of donors like you. We have no agency or government support. Through the Nyota Sponsorship Program you help these beautiful children achieve their dreams.
