The Mail Has Stopped: Donations Are Down!

On June 14, 2011 Canada Post was forced to shut down urban operations nationwide.

Following 12 days of rotating strikes by the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW), Canada Post suspended operations across the country.

Speroway, like many charitable organizations, relies on the mail service to maintain regular contact with its donor base. The absence of mail means an absence of donations and that means we are unable to fulfill our mission of “Delivering hope to needy children”. Our revenue is on the decline.

El SalvadorSperoway feeds hungry children in Canada and around the world. Presently the Canada Post lockout has stopped the flow of donor mail entirely. A recent request for donations for our work in Africa is stalled. An appeal to help provide food for children in Central America has been held up almost 5 days now.

When you rely on the generous donations of Canadians to ensure feeding centres, orphanages, and other programs can continue their work, every dollar is critical. Speroway is committed to these efforts but we are reaching a crossroads.

The mail may have stopped flowing, but you can still give online. If you reading this blog, there is a good chance you are already comfortable with this method of giving. We need to ask you do to that right now – please give! We are counting on you to help us through this current situation.

Your donation today is going to allow us to continue our work with no stoppages. We encourage you to make a generous donation so we can stand by our promise to deliver hope to children in need. In fact, you will be the one delivering hope!

When you have made your donation we only have one request; please forward this blog link to a friend or relative. We would be encouraged to know that there are others out there that feel like they can make a difference, just like you have.

Thank You!
