Mish Adventures for the 6th Year!!

We’re back in Mishkeegogamang for our 6th July summer camp program.  The community was waiting for us and the kids couldn’t wait to get on the bus the first day. Lots of hot sunny weather has kept the staff busy thinking of ways to stay wet and cool. As usual, swimming is the favorite activity for all ages.

50 – 90 children come to the camp each day either by bus or their parents dropping them off.  The kids all know they’ll have a good time each day and it’s evident that the parents trust us with their children.

The kids are divided into teams for the duration of the camp and they’ve come up with team flags and names: The Master Kings, Super Cougars, Amazing Archers, Awesome Legions, Young Natives and the Crazy Crayons.  As the kids go through the stations and other events, they have the opportunity to earn points for their team.  The team with the most points, at the end of the week, gets to throw a whipped cream pie into the face of a leader of their choice.  Believe me, they work hard at getting those points through sports, crafts, swimming, slip and slide, story time and big game events – relishing the opportunity to throw that pie!

A great surprise for our team this year is the servant leadership skills of the kids who were at the Muskoka Woods camp.  They have really been wonderful and helpful junior leaders who take good care of the kids.  With so many kids coming each day, we couldn’t do it without them.

It’s hard to believe that this is Speroway’s 6th year hosting the Mishkeegogamang camp – putting smiles on the faces of so many kids – showing them that their Creator loves them and so do we!
